Let’s be truthful with one another!
Mondays. They can be a drag.
Many may feel as if they’re ready to hit the grind for the week.
For others, not so much.
I’ll admit I have my moments of both. Today I'm super motivated. To the point that I’m sitting down writing a blog about not being motivated to motivate you! I have a stack of sales copy assignments that need editing for me to roll out. I have already sent out the pending marketing emails on my to-do list, and now I’m tackling some social media posts. Later, I’ll throw my two little ones (my kids- I have 4 in total) in the jogging stroller, break out the bikes for the older ones, and go for a light run.
Last week…
Well, last week I was living in misery. I got absolutely nothing done- for work or my personal life.

It wasn't just a Monday drag for me, it was a week-long downcast. My entire family was struck down by COVID. Thankfully, it was a “milder” case (I mean, it’s Covid. Mild is still pretty intense compared to the flu). So, nothing other than hot pots of tea placed out on the counter, round-the-clock temperature monitoring of my children, and a large pot of homemade Phở constantly simmering on the stove was completed by me. And I didn’t even make the Phở. That credit goes to my husband!
So, I get it!

Despite my empathy and experience in knowing exactly how much of a drag Mondays can be, I am here to tell you that you should always find ways to stay inspired! Especially when you feel unmotivated. Those are the moments when you should be seeking inspiration the most. Look for ways to feed both your mind and soul so that you stay nourished with knowledge and broadening ideas.
If it is just a drab Monday that you are feeling, get out on your lunch break and go for a walk or <actually> take a break from work as opposed to sitting in the breakroom or working through your lunch (for those of you working from home). Often times this makes a drab day even more excruciating. If you are sick, read a book. Preferably, something of substance that will either further your skillset, provoke motivation, or spark creativity! This gives your mind the nourishment it needs as opposed to binge-watching the latest hit series on Netflix (no offense Netflix- I love a good binge-watching session when it is the appropriate time).
When you feed your mind and soul with ideas that are of substance, hopefully, you will trigger excitement to go out and spawn new ideas. It will also increase your productivity and possibly increase your bottom line.
Yes, you read that correctly! Your bottom line can be affected, negatively or positively, by this Monday drag.
How?
You are a creative, a business owner, or an individual trying to sell a product or a service. How are you going to do that if you are doing nothing? I mentioned that I had to send out some marketing emails earlier in this motivational rant. Well, according to recent reports released by Campaign Monitor, Mondays yield the highest email open rates. On a global scale, these drab Mondays pull in a 22.0% email-open rate. As illustrated in the graph below, that is the highest day rate out of the 7 days! Do you want to sleep on that?

Tuesdays rank in 1st place with the highest click-through rates - again, on a global scale. So, if you are sending your sales or marketing emails throughout the week, Monday may be the best day to do it…instead of taking half the day off and catching up on your latest…well, whatever that latest unproductive thing is!
The only way to stay creative is to seek out inspiration! And the only way to increase your bottom line is to do the work! If you want to make a difference, and you strive to make an impact, then you need to stay inspired.
So, conquer the drab and go out and create!

Make your Mondays motivational!
